HipnoTouch provides a remote surface from which to explore or navigate parametric spaces via OpenSoundControl. Use HipnoTouch to send OSC messages remotely to Cycling ’74′s Max, Processing, Pure Data, Chuck, Supercollider, or any other OSC-aware application.

All 47 of the original Hipnoscope presets from the award-winning Hipno plug-ins by Electrotap and Cycling ’74 are included.

This version is optimized for the iPhone/iPod. A version optimized for the iPad will be forthcoming.

How It Works

HipnoTouch sends OpenSoundControl data over a WiFi network from your iPhone/iPod device to a computer.

You specify the computer in the setup screen, found by clicking the “i” button on the main screen and then choosing “More” and entering an IP Address and Port number for the computer. [more]

HipnoTouch sends both position data (x/y coordinates) for the “puck” and also the normalized weights for each of the 8 color blobs relative strength at the puck’s position.  By dragging the puck around on the screen you are then able to navigate an intuitive space which may be mapped directly to parameters or controls or to more complex systems.

You may choose from among the 47 provided presets to arrange the colors on the screen.  In an upcoming free update you will be able to create your own arrangements of the color blobs.

Free Audio Processor

To get you up to speed on using HipnoTouch, we are providing one of the original Hipno plugins as a Max patch and compiled App for free.  Multilution is one of those plugins with parameters whose effect on audio defies description.  It is easy to find interesting sounding settings for the plugin, but difficult to have those change over time – you know, like you would do if you wanted to perform with it.  The original plugin interface and processing patches are there to do with as you wish, just open Multilution2012.maxpat, but along with this is an example of interfacing HipnoTouch with pattrstorage to make sweeping between cool sounding presets a breeze.  There is also a Mac Application version for those who want to try it out but don’t own Max.  HipnoTouch just sends OSC messages, so you can route them into the platform of your choice.
