Teabox Accessory:
Expander

The Expander offers an easy-to-use solution to access the Teabox's RJ11 (telephone) jack inputs. It is the best way to add 4 Combo (XLR/TRS) jacks to give you a full compliment of 8 jacks. It also performs impedance conversion - good for using high-impedance sensors with the Teabox.

The expander is also available with a custom scaling option. When you order an Expander with the Custom Scaling Option, you will receive an email from us asking you for the voltage range of the sensors you are planning to use with the Expander. We will then custom build an Expander to match your sensors to the optimum range of the Teabox.

Technicnal Specifications for Electrotap T201A Expander

Technical Specifications for Electrotap T201A Expander

Physical Attributes

  • Dimensions: 6in (154mm) x 1 1/4in (32mm) x 1 1/4in (32mm)
  • Solder Mask Color: Green
  • Temperature Range: -30C to 75C (-21F to 160F)
  • LED power indicator light

Ordering Information

  • Standard Version (includes 6-foot RJ11 cable) - T201A
  • Custom Scaling Version (Each of the four input channels will scale input signals to custom specifications on a made-to-order basis. Such scaling is fixed, i.e. not variable after production. Includes 6-foot RJ11 cable) - T201B

Electrical Specifications

  • Voltage Source: 0-5 Volts
  • Minimum Current Source: depends on application.
  • Voltage Returned by Sensor: depends on application.
  • All inputs fully buffered prior to sending to output.
  • Inputs may be scaled by adding resistors to the circuit.

Cable Specifications

  • Electrotap P/N: CAB-RJ11-6
  • Standard 6 foot (approximately 2 meter), 6 conductor RJ11/Telephone cable.
  • Color: White
  • RJ11 connector layout (teabox end):
    - Pin 1: 5 Volts
    - Pin 2: Sensor 1
    - Pin 3: Sensor 2
    - Pin 4: Sensor 3
    - Pin 5: Sensor 4
    - Pin 6: Ground
  • RJ11 connector layout (sensor end):
    - Pin 1: Ground
    - Pin 2: Button S1
    - Pin 3: Button S2
    - Pin 4: Button S3
    - Pin 5: Button S4
    - Pin 6: 5 Volts

Application Examples

  • Adding 4 more Combo-Jack inputs to the Teabox.
  • For any application where it is desireable to use an RJ11 line to split into 4 full inputs (combo jacks or 3-pin header).
  • For any application where a high-impedance sensor may be used. The buffering in this unit converts all inputs to low-impedance.
  • Fixed (non-variable) scaling with the T201B for times that a known input range will always need to be scaled the same way.
