Flex/Bend Sensor

One of our coolest sensors, the Flex/Bend sensor responds to a physical range between straight and a 90 degree bend. This sensor uses the same technology as many of the glove controllers used for video consoles or computer games. It outputs a conditioned signal in the industry standard voltage range of 0.25-4.75 Volts, perfect for the Teabox.

As with all of our sensors, we have taken care to make certain that this sensor is of high quality. For the hacker or do-it-yourselfer we also offer a "project version" of this sensor (see the specification sheet for more details), which comes at a reduced price.

Sensing Specifications

  • Flexion Sensor manufactured by Abrams-Gentile Entertainment.
  • Dimensions of Flex strip: 4.5in x 0.25in
  • Range of Flexion : 90 degrees, one direction (bending backwards does not yield results).

  • Voltage Source: 0-5 Volts
  • Minimum Current Source: 5mA
  • Voltage Returned by Sensor: Industry Standard 0.25 Volts to 4.75 Volts, fully conditioned and buffered.

Application Notes

  • Flex sensors can be prone to produce signals that have some noise in them. It is highly recommended that you lowpass filter the sensor signal before using it to eliminate the noise or spikes from the signal.
